BROADEN AND EXPAND HWEA'S MEMBERSHIP WHILE RETAINING CURRENT MEMBERS
- Continue to assess the interests and needs of the membership and the profession

- Provide discounts to members for all HWEA activities

- Encourage members to publish in journals and the Lua Line
- Encourage members to present technical papers at WEF and/or HWEA conferences or workshops
- Promote WEF's specialty conferences
- Solicit volunteers for various HWEA committees and task forces
- Continue nominating a member to serve on the State Board of Certification
- Encourage members to support Statewide Training Center programs
- Continue participating in WEF leadership training program
- Continue scholarship program
BECOME MORE ACCESSIBLE TO THE MEMBERSHIP, MEDIA AND POLICY MAKERS
- Maintain website on the internet
- Establish working relationship with media and policy makers
- Maintain a database of subject matter experts (SME)
- Testify on local legislation related to the water environment
PROMOTE PUBLIC EDUCATION AT ALL LEVELS
- Develop or acquire educational materials
- Make presentations and provide educational materials to community groups, teachers, workshops, schools, etc.
- Conduct facility tours
PROVIDE INPUT AND SUPPORT TO WEF THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN ITS ACTIVITIES
- Be represented at regional and annual meetings
- Support member participation in WEF offices, regional offices, committees and task forces
- Participate in the Operations Challenge
- Provide monetary support to WEF programs (WERF, etc.)
- Encourage participation at WEFTEC
FORM TECHNICAL COMMITTEES TO COLLECT AND DISSEMINATE INFORMATION
- Continue support of existing committees
- Promote formation of new committees
- Align HWEA committees with WEF committees to facilitate interaction
FORM WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, ASSOCIATIONS, INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND REGULATORY AGENCIES
- Continue to hold joint meetings with other organizations
- Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and workshops of other organizations when topics are relevant to the water environment
- Establish relationship with higher educational institutions
- Provide sound scientific leadership to regulatory agencies
MAINTAIN A SOUND FISCAL PROGRAM
- Establish a reserve policy
- Prepare annual budget in harmony with projected income and the reserve policy
- Identify new sources of income
- Enhance revenue sources by charging non-member rates
- Continue soliciting donations for defraying Lua Line costs
- Consult with CPA to establish proper bookkeeping
